With more than 7 restaurants operating across Chicago, Harry Carray is probably one of the most well-known steakhouses in the USA. It specialises in traditional Italian dishes, pastas and seafoods served in an old-fashioned setting, usually providing sport memorabilia. The restaurant branch holds a strong reputation for excellent food quality and service. The decor of the restaurant seemed to bring me into a new era. With the use of antique furniture and chesnut brown wood flooring, the interior really does help enhance that traditional Italian feel. The restaurant area is big, but tables are packed closely together, creating a resonant sound of chatter and liveliness. Our server, Mike, was very knowledgeable and helpful in assisting us with our order. When he came over with the platter of various meats, he bubbly explained each type in great detail. He offered great recommendations and always stopped by to fill our glass with water or asking us how everything was getting along. We began with the Mixed Baby Greens Salad- carrots, radishes, grape tomatoes, cucumber, balsamic vinaigrette . There was nothing out of the extraordinary, but the you could definitely tell that the produce was fresh and the vinaigrette was homemade and well seasoned. Promptly afterwards came the Jumpo Lump Crab Cake- Apple Watercress Salad, Horseradish Mustard Aioli. It was by far one of the most delicious and unique crab cakes I've ever had. The crab meat was tender and the mustard went perfectly with it. I liked how no ingredients really overpowered each other and there was a good combination of all tastes. It was a wonderful start to the meal. After much anticipation, arrived the great and glorious New York Strip and the Mushroom side. The food was to die for. The meat was delightful, cooked just right at medium and seasoned to perfection. Every bite left me longing for another. Since this time we learnt our lessons and split one portion, the amount was just right and we left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied.
